About UsBased on the real-life events I experienced during treatment, I wrote "Why Is Mommy Sleeping?" for parents dealing with breast cancer. It is truly a battle the family fights together; the struggles and questions never stop. Will I live? Can I get out of bed today? How sick will this round of chemotherapy make me?My biggest concern was always the well-being of my children. After my diagnosis, my husband Larry and I researched the best way to break the news to our children, Jacob and Abby (then ages 7 and 5). Most research suggested children are better off learning the truth to lessen the fear and confusion caused by the sudden changes in their world. My hope is that "Why Is Mommy Sleeping?" makes it easier for parents to explain to their children what to expect in the many months of treatment ahead of them. Additionally, I wrote this book to provide helpful and practical ideas to help families better cope. |
